Connect Broker Accounts

Step‑by‑step guides for linking your broker accounts to Folyo.

Before you begin

Where to start? Navigate to your Dashboard or Portfolio page and click “+ Add Account” to open the broker picker. Choose your broker and follow the steps below.

Your data is secure

All broker credentials are encrypted with AES-256‑GCM before storage. Folyo uses OAuth flows where available and never stores your broker login passwords. Connections are over HTTPS only.

Prerequisites

You need a Kite Connect app to get your API credentials. If you don’t have one yet:

  1. Go to developers.kite.trade
  2. Sign in with your Zerodha credentials and create an app
  3. Copy the API Key and API Secret from your app’s page

Connection Steps

Open the Add Account dialog

From your Dashboard or Portfolio page, click “+ Add Account” and select Zerodha Kite.

Enter your API credentials

Fill in the two fields and click Continue:

Log in to Kite in the popup

A Zerodha Kite login popup will open. Enter your Zerodha user ID, password, and 2FA PIN as usual.

Make sure your browser allows popups for Folyo. If the popup doesn’t appear, check your browser’s popup-blocker settings.

Automatic token capture

After you log in, Folyo automatically captures the request token. If auto-capture fails, you can manually paste the request token from the popup’s URL bar into the Request Token field.

Done!

You’ll see a “Zerodha account connected” toast. Your holdings will appear in the Portfolio within a few seconds.

Daily reconnection: Kite Connect tokens expire every trading day. You’ll need to reconnect each morning before market hours by clicking the Reconnect button on your account card.

Troubleshooting

Popup blocked

Zerodha and Dhan open a login popup. If it’s blocked, look for a popup-blocker notification in your browser’s address bar and allow popups for folyo.in.

Failed to connect account

Double-check that your API credentials are correct and haven’t expired. For Zerodha, ensure the API Key and Secret are from the same Kite Connect app.

TOTP keeps failing (Kotak Neo)

Make sure your device’s clock is synced accurately. TOTP is time-based — even a 30-second drift can cause failures. Also confirm you are using the correct MPIN (trading MPIN, not demat PIN).

Token expired / Session inactive

Zerodha and Kotak Neo sessions expire daily. Click the Reconnect button on the account card in your Dashboard to re-authenticate.
